Here's What I'm Consuming...
What I’m consuming shapes who I become.
I’ve been consistently in awe with how quickly I can change my character based on the inputs I fill my consciousness with. Here is a running list of some meditations, sports, books, and videos that I’ve been fascinated with.
Here’s a list…
Guided meditations and hypnosis
Why do we consciously take actions against what we say we want?
The only reasonable explanation I’ve discovered is my subconscious mind is not on board with what my conscious mind wants.
And as I get older, I see that my habits, beliefs, and emotions are actually shaping everything.
For example, imagine the person who is 20 years old. They are naturally fit. Maybe they go to the gym once every couple of weeks. Their habits and beliefs are, “Going to the gym isn’t that important. Eating right isn’t that important.” And they’re right (in the moment).
But those same unconscious beliefs are going to make that person feel poorly about themselves over a long enough time frame. And those become evident, the older we get.
The other part (that I didn’t quite notice in my youth) is that more situations arise in life, and some of those naturally stick to you. The “what if’s,” “should I have done that differently,” “why did I choose X instead of Y” can grow in your awareness. Your decisions and the events seem to create bigger ripples the older you get.
This is why starting the habit of meditation is so important (because my ego lessens and I can see my faults more clearly).
Here are some of the many hypnosis and guided meditations that I’ve been paying attention to and that have been helping me:
Chakra Meditation Cleansing, Balancing & Healing with Guided Hypnosis Activation (Michael Sealey)
Rain Hypnosis For Attracting Wealth (Law of Attraction, Create & Manifest Abundance) (Michael Sealey)
Practice Connecting with God’s Light (Lorie Ladd)
Guided Sleep Meditation (Michael Sealey)
Prosperity Hypnosis (Frederick Dodson)
Bubble of Light Meditation (by me :)
Sports
Sports have made a relatively big comeback in my awareness.
The reason for this is twofold:
Sports help connect me with my childhood. When I was young, I spent a lot of time playing basketball and baseball. I spent even more time watching and playing sports video games (shoutout NBA 2K, Madden, and FIFA). When I was 15, I wrote a Knicks blog. And then I wrote sports for the local newspaper (before getting fired, a story for another day 🤣). I played fantasy sports. I bet on sports. It has played such an outsized role in my life.
AI has made me question everything I see on the Internet. As a result, I move toward what is real and live. Sports are real and live and they have consequences.
By the way, somewhere in the development of myself, I decided sports were not in service to the person that I wanted to be. I made the argument to myself, “The player and the team do not care about you. Why do you care so much about them?” And to be fair, it’s a good argument. But what I’ve realized is that sports teach me about greatness, leadership, and channeling the divine.
I enjoyed and witnessed the New York Knicks win the NBA Championship in San Antonio last month (literally sitting in the last row the stadium) for the first time in 53 years. I got obsessed with witnessing this team create magic (like this 29 point comeback in the NBA Finals and this 22-point comeback in the fourth quarter against the Cavs). This closing montage from Mike Breen really encapsulated the journey for me and brought tears to my eyes. This team really did it.
I also have found the World Cup to be awesome even though I don’t have a massive interest in soccer.
I’ve also realized that every time I watch sports, I connect with a younger part of myself. And for that, I’m grateful.
YouTube Videos
I’ve been enjoying Frederick Dodson’s work recently. I enjoyed his interview with Jack Moses. I also enjoyed Jack’s most recent episode with Tej Dosa.
Here is a Joe Hudson video on love:
Quote from that video:
“You’re always dating from a pattern. That’s the beauty of dating. You’re always working out some family of origin issue when you’re dating or when you’re married. So the question is are you doing that with someone else who can work through that with you? … You’re not going to be attracted to someone who doesn’t have some interlocking, psychological attachment issue. The question is are you working on it and are you consciously working on it?”
This is a video I know I’m going to reference at some point in the future (stopping the chattering mind by an awesome monk dude). Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
Here are some more Dodson videos worth exploring:
Books
My love affair with books is one of the greatest joys of my life. One day, I hope I have a massive library.
For now, here are some bangers I’ve been reading and rereading:
Signs by Laura Lynne Jackson
Maps of Consciousness Explained by David Hawkins
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks
Healing Kundalini Symptoms by Tara Springett
How To Find Your Soulmate by Tara Springett
Real Magic by Wayne Dyer
What have you been consuming? Any overlap?
Love,
Danny
PS If you’re interested in booking a hypnosis session, I started offering Past Life Regressions (!!), and they’ve been absolutely incredible. I’ve also been doing regular hypnosis, coaching, and podcast consulting. This is a message from a friend…
Feel free to send any questions my way.
